India defended its 4x400m mixed relay gold in the Asian Athletics Championships with a domineering performance in Gumi, South Korea, on Wednesday.

The Indian quartet of Rupal Chaudhary, Santhosh Kumar, Vishal TK and Subha Venkatesan clocked 3:18.12 to take gold, beating powerhouses China by over two seconds (3:20.52). Sri Lanka took bronze at 3:21.95.

Santhosh gave India a good lead, and Rupal stretched it further as she handed over the baton to Vishal, who ensured that Subha, a member of the gold-winning side from 2023, had enough daylight to finish the race in style.

Earlier today, Rupal took silver in women's 400 m, clocking 52.68 seconds, finishing behind Japan's Nanako Matsumoto (52.17).
