Over two lakh spectators are expected for the 70th annual Nehru Trophy Boat Race to be held on Punnamada Lake on August 10 this year.

Topping the overall points table, the Tropical Titans (rowing Veeyapuram snake boat) scored 116 points, followed by the Coast Dominators (Nadubhagom Chundan of UBC Kainakary Club) at 109 points.
The event is scheduled for December 9.
The event, scheduled for on October 29, will see the participation of as many as 35 boat race teams including women groups from Kannur and Kasargod districts, in various categories.
The Nehru Trophy Boat Race Society (NTBRS) has yet to receive the sum though the grant was passed last week.
