The fishing boat carrying drugs was intercepted mid-sea by a joint team of the Coast Guard and ATS near Jakhau harbour in Kutch district.
The incident of insult to the national flag, a punishable offence, was reported from Irumpanam in Kochi Tuesday morning.
The seized heroin was sourced from Afghanistan. The same narcotics from the Taliban-ruled country has been seized earlier too.
The DRI also confirmed that two Thiruvananthapuram natives were part of the gang.
The DRI officials recovered 218 heroin packets of one kilogram each during the search operation carried out on the seized boats which were brought to the Coast Guard headquarters in Kochi.
