Kozhikode native Fahadh is driving the ambulance.
According to police, the male nurse was driving the ambulance at the time of the accident.
The deceased is Vadakkepeediyekkal Khalid, 33, son of Vapakutty Haji and Fathima Kutty, belonging to Karekadu Padathepeedika in Valanchery.
Thirty precious minutes were lost by the time he was taken out of the vehicle after breaking open the door and by the time doctors attended to him, he succumbed to the grave injuries.
The incident comes just days after Health Minister Veena George conducted a lightning raid at the Thiruvalla taluk hospital over allegations that there were serious lapses in its management.
Though there were some private hospitals ready to provide an ambulance, they demanded at least Rs 2,000.
The incident occurred near the Pariyaram Medical College in Kannur Sunday afternoon.
She has been driving vehicles for the last 16 years. Right now she drives the Pranavam Charitable Trust Ambulance. Earlier she used to drive school and college buses.
Ann Mariya currently serves at the Kattapana Assisi Snehashramam and had also worked as a nurse in many places.
