Police registered a case and charged the accused with sections under relevant sections of POCSO the IPC.
The crime took place in 2019 July under the Kalpetta Police Station limits.
The quantum of the punishment will be pronounced on Tuesday.
The convict is also facing a similar POCSO charge in a case that is still pending.
The three accused are Suresh (59), Cherukunn Prachithan (45) of Poothadi, and his wife Sujnhana (38).
The incident in question occurred on December 19, 2021.
The child's parents have been living separately for two months.
The accused took the child, who was sleeping near her parents on the roadside, and abused her 50 metres from where they were lying.
He accused the police of protecting the accused in this matter and that when he pointed out the law to them, they said adding it would only prolong the investigation.
The accused was charged under different sections of the POSCO Act.
