The two laws invoked by the state government for land acquisition are, the Kerala Survey and Boundaries Act of 1961 and the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act of 2013.
The authorities have come up with a "deferred payment scheme" for those who have to part with land for the project.
When asked about the protests involving uprooting of boundary stones he replied "We shall get more stones from other states if necessary."
