Only 17 legislators reach Yashwantrao Chavan Centre in south Mumbai to attend the meeting convened by NCP chief Sharad Pawar.
The one-line whip issued on Tuesday by Jitendra Awhad, chief whip of the Sharad Pawar-led NCP, said the meeting has been called by Sharad Pawar at 1 pm at Y B Chavan Centre on July 5, and the presence of all MLAs is mandatory.
NCP has 53 MLAs in 288-member Maharashtra Assembly; Ajit Pawar needs support of at least 36 legislators to not attract provisions of anti-defection law.

The 63-year-old leader, who is known to be politically ambitious and speak his mind, took oath as the deputy CM of Maharashtra on Sunday for the third time since 2019, capping months of intense speculation about his next political move.
Maintaining that there was no split in the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), he said they would contest all the future elections on the NCP's name and symbol.
"Politics of development is being backed by a man of development. When a deserving party worker gets a secondary role, such things happen," Shinde said about Ajit Pawar, the nephew of Sharad Pawar who is known to display rebellious streaks.
In a day of massive political developments, Ajit Pawar was sworn in as deputy chief minister in the Eknath Shinde government along with several of his colleagues.
The news made headlines after Ajit Pawar on Sunday met some party leaders and MLAs at his official residence in Mumbai.
