A provisional order under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) has been issued against Karti, son of former union minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram.
Tharoor, Manish Tewari, Karti Chidambaram, Pradyut Bordoloi and Abdul Khaleque said the list of PCC delegates that make up electoral college should be provided to all electors, potential candidates.
P Chidambaram was arrested by CBI in 2020 for alleged irregularities in the grant of Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance to INX Media.
The Congress list contains four candidates from Maharashtra, three from Bihar and one each in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Jammu and Kashmir.
Karti, being investigated by the ED and the CBI in several cases, was earlier, too, allowed to go abroad.
The charge sheet was filed before special CBI judge O P Saini who has fixed July 31 for considering the document.
The ED had registered a PMLA case against Karti in connection with the INX Media money laundering case.
The ED had alleged that irregularities took place in the FIPB clearance to INX Media for receiving overseas funds to the tune of Rs 305 crore in 2007 when Chidambaram was the Union finance minister.
P Chidambaram and his son were named in the charge sheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the case on July 19.
The court however extended till December 18 the protection granted to Chidambaram and his son Karti from arrest .
