If Jose K Mani wins Pala for the LDF and Mp Joseph wins Trikaripur for the UDF, the brothers-in-law could meet up in the legislative assembly in Thiruvananthapuram.
The assembly witnessed unprecedented scenes on March 13, 2015, as LDF members, then in opposition, tried to prevent Finance Minister KM Mani, who was facing charges in the bar bribery scam, from presenting the state budget.
Hotelier Biju Ramesh, a former office bearer of KBHA, had alleged that the bar hotel owners had collected and paid bribes to at least three prominent Congress leaders other than the then Finance Minister K M Mani to open their businesses.
Three factors seem to have forced the UDF to finally give up on Jose K Mani. One, the group's decision to abstain from the no-confidence motion on August 25. Two, its refusal to take part in the Rajya Sabha elections. Three, the secret talks the UDF believes the Mani faction leaders had with the CPM.
