The case was registered against Azam Khan at Milak Kotwali in Rampur on April 9, 2019, for allegedly making provocative remarks against UP CM Yogi Adityanath and IAS Aunjaneya Kumar Singh.
The video of Khan's purported speech was also doing the rounds on various social media platforms.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman termed Khan's remarks as 'utterly condemnable' and urged the Speaker to take exemplary action.
Khan, who was a cabinet minister in Uttar Pradesh during the Akhilesh Yadav-led regime, is the founder and Chancellor of the Mohammad Ali Jauhar University which came into being in 2006.
