Thiruvananthapuram: The Southern Railways have made elaborate arrangements to facilitate the travel of devotees attending the annual Attukal Pongala on Thursday, March 13.

A special train with unreserved coaches will operate from Ernakulam to Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday at 1.30 am, reaching Thiruvananthapuram at 6.30 am. As per the schedule, the return journey from Thiruvananthapuram to Ernakulam is set to depart at 2.15 pm, arriving at its destination at 7.40 pm.

The timetable for two trains was revised on Wednesday due to the festival. Train No. 16525 Bangalore Island Express, which departs from Kanyakumari at 10.10 am, was delayed by one hour. Train No. 56310 Nagercoil Passenger, which usually departs from Thiruvananthapuram North (Kochuveli) railway station at 1.25 pm, was rescheduled to start at 2.00 pm.

Additionally, the railways have allotted temporary stoppages for 31 trains on the Thiruvananthapuram route to accommodate the increased number of passengers.
