The serene Muvattupuzha Lake and the beautiful hanging bridge across it at Kalamboor, on the border of Kottayam and Ernakulam districts, have drawn visitors. The foundation stone of the hanging bridge was laid in 2012. Inaugurated in 2017, the hanging bridge connects Mulakkulam panchayat in Kottayam and Piravom municipality in Ernakulam district. It is also close to the famous Kalambookavu Devi temple.
Amazing views and cool breeze
The hanging bridge, 160 metres long and one and a half metres wide, has been built across the Muvattupuzha Lake. This is a perfect spot for photoshoots, as you could capture the mesmerising views of the gently flowing river in the background. Besides, the cool breeze that flows from the lake is incredibly soothing. Ghats have been built on both sides of the Muvattupuzha Lake. The ghat, which has steps leading to the water and is near the Kalambookavu temple, offers amazing frames for photoshoots.

Route
Visitors could reach the Kalamboor hanging bridge from Kottayam via Appanchira – Keezhoor – Kayyurikkal – Mulakkulam Road. It is around 41 kilometres away from Kottayam railway station. You could also take the Peruva – Mulakkulam – Velloor railway station road from Kottayam. Meanwhile, the hanging bridge is just six kilometres away from Piravom.
