Karimbukayam in Kanjrappally panchayat is a serene spot where you could take a relaxing stroll on the banks of the river. Scintillating views
There is a 300 metre walkway on the banks of the Manimalayar River near the Karimbukayam bridge. The safety fence allows the visitors to enjoy the views of the river without any danger. The area above the Karimbukayam bridge is deeper, and a tank has been installed here for the drinking water project. Meanwhile, the walkway is just below the bridge.
The spot where the Chittar River merges with the Manimalayar River is incredibly beautiful. The lush greenery and idyllic surroundings provide stunning settings for photoshoots and video reels. Manimalayar River flows straight here with trees and greenery lining both sides of the banks.
Here’s how to reach
Reach Ponkunnam from Kottayam via National Highway 183 and turn onto the Erumely route from here. From Kallarakavu junction to Chenappady Road to reach Karimbukayam, which is 40 kilometres from Kottayam. You could also reach via Kanjirappally – Chenappady Road. Karimbukayam is just 5.5 kilometres away from Kanjirappally.
Points to note
1)Drinking water to three panchayats is distributed from Karimbukayam, so do not dump waste here.
2) The area above the bridge is deeper, and the currents are stronger under the bridge. So, it is better to enjoy the beauty of the river from the banks.
3) Do not ignore rain and lightning warnings. Avoid visiting the place if there is a risk of flooding.
4) The area looks splendid when there is water in the river.
