After Malarikkal and Paral, another scintillating countryside of Kottayam has also made its entry into the district's extensive tourism map. The blooming waterlilies have turned the paddy fields of Valekkadavu in Pallom into a sea of eye-catching pink. Hundreds of visitors are swarming the idyllic Pallom to enjoy the waterlily fields early in the morning, when the smoky mists lend a mystical charm. The beauty of the waterlily fields could be enjoyed in all its grandeur from 6 am to 8 am before the harsh sunrays fall on the blooms. The fields look as if a massive, exotic carpet in a vibrant pink hue has been sprawled over verdant greenery.

The reels and pictures shot at these waterlily fields have gone viral on social media, attracting huge numbers of visitors, especially on weekends. This place has become the favourite spot for photographers as the enchanting waterlilies offer the perfect frames. People are often spotted conducting photoshoots or filming reels here. Besides, Pallom has become a popular weekend getaway for families, too. Pallom is easily accessible if you are a regular commuter on the Kottayam Town – Changanassery route.

How to reach Pallom
The spot is only about 6 kilometres from Kottayam town, on the Kottayam–Changanassery Road (MC Road). From Pallom Post Office Junction, head to the Valekkadavu Road to reach the Thollayiram Padam fields.

Note for visitors
Visitors should be careful while walking on the raised earthen ridge, as it may be slippery. Local residents and authorities urge the visitors not to litter the beautiful fields with plastic and other waste. Pallom is an amazing weekend getaway for people in Kottayam, where they can enjoy visual treats similar to those at Malarikkal and Ambattukadavu.
