In line with its policy of offering world-class facilities to its passengers, the stations of Kochi Metro will now offer air-conditioned dormitories with free Wi-Fi and locker facility to commuters.
The facility will be managed and operated by Peters Inn, a deluxe bed space provider, in the space leased out by the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL). A 3,500 sq ft space had been allotted by KMRL to the company to set up the MG Road facility. The aim is to provide quality accommodation at an affordable rate.
The facility, that is expected to be opened in June, will have 200 beds in the business and economy sections, at Rs 595 and 395 respectively.
Along with free locker facility, each bed will have private space with reading light and phone charging point. The dorm unit will have round-the-clock check-in and check-out facility and security cameras.
The facility is not exclusively for Metro passengers though they are the prime targets.
The venture comes as part of KMRL's initiatives to generate the non-ticket revenue by leasing out commercial space in its stations to private parties.
