Nipah outbreak in Kozhikode: Here's what tourists should be aware of

At a time when Kerala is facing a Nipah virus outbreak again, how should the tourists make sure they stay safe? The tourism information officer of Kozhikode's District Tourism Promotion Council says the following pointers can be kept in mind:
Mask mandate: Masks have been made mandatory for everyone and tourists are also advised to follow the same

Containment zone: Tourists should avoid the containment zone regions of the district. Travellers must check out the communique issued by the health authorities in this regard.
No curb outside zone: As of now, no restrictions have been imposed on tourist spots outside of the containment zone panchayats

Boat race postponed: The boat race planned as part of the Champion's Boat League on Chaliyar River on September 24 has been postponed. A new date will be announced later.
Event rescheduled: A host of official programmes have been rescheduled due to the outbreak and thus, tourists are advised to double-check any event they were planning to be part of, in this region.

As per the list of containment zones issued on Tuesday, entry and exit will be restricted to 43 wards in seven panchayats.
