Dubai: Air India recently suddenly hiked Minor Service Charges for children travelling alone which they have to pay in addition to ticket charges. Earlier, the carrier had provided concessions for travel by children above two years of age. Now they have stopped the same.

Noted child actor Izin Hash has also joined the chorus of protests against Air India for revising concessions for children.

The Tata-owned airline has also done away with the fare discount so far extended to kids above two years. Izin, who debuted in Malayalam through ‘Nizhal’, posted the protest video on Instagram after he travelled on an Air India flight to Dubai from home the other day.

The child celebrity, who is also a model, had earlier travelled alone without being accompanied by his parents, availing the special service of Air India. However, this time around, the airline suddenly levied double the fees for the service. He was forced to dole out Rs 10, 000 in addition to ticket charges at the place of Rs 5,000 that he earlier paid for the service extended to children in the age group of 5 to 12 years.

Earlier, the airline had also provided a small fare discount for travel by children above two years of age. However, it has completely done away with that. The same has come as a big blow to those travelling from the Gulf along with their kids. Izin, who is residing in Dubai, has acted with famous stars like Hrithik Roshan, Madhavan, Kunchacko Boban, and Nayanthara.
