Kochi: Air India Express is bringing the spirit of Onam to the skies, offering its passengers a chance to enjoy the traditional Onam feast mid-air as part of celebrating the festival season. The special service is available for those travelling abroad from or returning to the four airports in Kerala, as well as Mangaluru, up to September 6.

The feast will be served on a plantain leaf and includes a spread of boiled Matta rice, ghee, parippu, thoran, erissery, aviyal, kootukari, sambar, puliyinchi, mango pickle, banana chips, jaggery-coated banana chips, and payasam. The meal will be presented in specially designed packets with a Kasavu (golden thread) lining. Passengers can pre-book the feast for Rs 500 through the airline’s website, airindiaexpress.com, or via the mobile app, up to 18 hours before their flight.

In addition to the Onam feast, passengers can also choose from a wide variety of cuisines available on the Air India Express menu. Honouring Kerala’s cultural heritage, the livery of the new Boeing VT-BXM aircraft of Air India Express has also been designed in the Kasavu style.
