The Untold Story of Kerala’s Hand-Fishing Fisherwomen | Kerala's Fisher Queens

In a small island near Kerala's Ernakulam district, fisherwomen have been catching fish directly by hand for generations. Their unique fishing practice, known as ‘Thappi Meenpidikkal’ is slowly dying. One of them, Thamburu K K, has been documenting this practice for the world outside their island. Her videos have reached nearly 9 million views on her channel 'Queen Fisher'. They tell both her story and that of Kattikkunnu Thuruthu’s fisher queens.
