Irinjalakuda: Christ College, Irinjalakuda, has emerged victorious in the University of Calicut inter-zone bodybuilding championship held at the Sree Krishna College, Guruvayoor. This is the second time that the students of Christ College are winning the championship, this time after three years.

Christ College has also bagged the overall championship trophy for this year's inter-zone competitions. The second place was secured by Sree Krishna College, Guruvayoor, and the third place was bagged by Government College, Chittur.

A B Deepak, a second-year B Com student of Christ College, won the coveted 'Mr Calicut University' title. R Deepak, M Anantu, and M Suresh also bagged gold medals in bodybuilding competitions in the 65kg, 80kg, and 70kg weight category.

Physical education trainer Bintu Kalyan said the passion for sports made Christ College students physically strong.

Mathew Paul Ukkan, Christ College principal remarked that many Christ College alumni are today big names in the bodybuilding fraternity.

He also said that the high standards of facilities available at the college and the undying enthusiasm and hard work of the students have bought this laurel to the college.

Calicut sports deputy director Sakeer Hussain distributed the medals to the winners of the inter-zone.
