The newly constituted LBS College students' union conducted a Biryani fest named Masafi on Friday to celebrate the victory of the United Democratic Students Front in the recent polls. This was the second official programme conducted by the new union after the Diwali celebration named Vidyut. About 2,000 people, including students and teachers, enjoyed the meals.
For the Biryani party, cooking was done at the men’s hostel. Students started their preparations a day before the cooking. Volunteers to cook and serve were selected from among the students.
The fest started at sharp 12 pm during lunch break. Five stalls were installed in various blocks and they included separate stalls in the L block and Seminar Hall for first-year students as well as teachers and staffs respectively.
The party was over by 1:30 pm and regular classes were held subsequently. Reportedly, the college never hosted such a huge fest before.
The college union ensured that waste plates and water bottles were dumped in waste containers and this ensured cleanliness of the campus.
Meanwhile, the inauguration of the students' union will be conducted on November 16.
