MEC football tournament now on

All eyes are on Government Model Engineering College as the 12th edition of the annual football extravaganza - the EL JUEGO - kicked off on Monday at the college ground.

If you believe football is nothing more than a few men chasing a monochromatic ball then art for you is nothing but paint and an easel that serve no conceivable function. There is much more than meets the eye when it comes to football. Once you have fallen to its charms it keeps you hooked forever. A game that hardly requires any equipment, but is enough to move millions.

The MEC students relieve their love for the game with the much-awaited football tournament of the year, Binoy Memorial EL JUEGO. To add more colours to the event a penalty shootout competition was held for our wonder women. In addition to this, a juggling contest was also held to give the students a chance to awaken their inner Ronaldinho.

It saw many students trying their best to control and entice the people around them with their ball retention skills.

This tournament is held in memory of our beloved sports secretary. It is a football tournament for a team of seven. This year the tournament has 10 teams participating in it; 8 guest teams and two host teams- MEC Blues and MEC reds. With vigour and valour each team is hoping to give their best shot and get the chance to lift the coveted ever-rolling trophy.

It’s time to hustle, hit and never quit.
