The series of sports tournaments, named El Ruido, that were held throughout the semester at the LBS College of Engineering in Kasaragod has ended.

The culminating event was a badminton tournament that was held over the weekend on April 27. Despite the ongoing examinations for internal assessment, students from all departments participated in the inter-department competitions.

First up was the Women's Singles competition.

Sneha S, a second-year Electronics and Communications (ECE) Engineering student, beat Fathimath Faiza of the Computer Science Engineering (CSE) department to grab the women's singles championship title.

Megha Chandrababu, a fourth-year ECE student became the second runner's up.

In the Women's Doubles, the singles winners again hit the mark, bringing in suitable partners, but the second-year students outshone their seniors.

Fathimath Faiza and Anagha V of the CSE department became the champions, whereas Megha Chandrababu and Aparna V had to suffice with the runner's-up title.

Single's winner Sneha S along with her partner Krishnapriya E P fought hard to earn the second runner-up title.

Men's event

A week back, the Men's Singles and Doubles Championships were held on the badminton court, with Lasheen and Rafeek, fourth-year Mechanical Engineering (ME) students, becoming the doubles champions. Earlier, Rafeek had won the singles champion's title, making it a double dhamaka for him.

Last in line

With the conclusion of the badminton tournament, the sports competitions for students, this academic year, have finally wound up. It was a frenzy of cricket, football and badminton tournaments that kept the students on the edge of their seat for all the weekends, giving them a much-needed break from their hectic academic life.

The college is currently conducting Master's Cup, an All-Kerala Football Tournament exclusively for employees, including faculty. The matches span late to the night with student audiences cheering up for their teachers as they let their football spirit work its way out. Staff teams from colleges all over Kerala are on board with their tactics.
