FAQs | Clear your doubts on NEET rank lists, seat allotments

The options submission for Kerala medical and allied course will start soon. For admission to courses like veterinary sciences and Ayurveda, what is minimum rank required under National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)?

There is a difference regarding this depending upon the courses. For admission in MBBS, BDS, Ayurveda, Homoeo, Siddha and Unani branches, the general category students need at least 50th percentile score in NEET. For Scheduled and Backward classes, 40th percentile is sufficient. For the disabled under general/economically backward category, 45th percentile is required.

Accordingly, this year, 147 marks out of 720 will be required for general category, 113 marks for OBC, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, OBC - disabled, Scheduled Caste - disabled and Scheduled Tribe - disabled categories, and 129 marks for general/economically backward classes - disabled category.

However, candidates with at least 20 marks out of 720 will be considered for admission in Veterinary, Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry degrees in Kerala. There is no minimum mark requirement for Scheduled Castes in these courses.

Based on NEET-UG rank list, the Kerala rank list will be prepared by considering only those who are eligible in the state. Admission to medical and allied courses in Kerala will be according to this Kerala rank list.

The following are the NEET ranks that were required for general category admission in government institutions in Kerala in 2019. An accurate prediction is not possible for the rank that will be required this year.

MBBS - 7,500, BDS - 34,500, Ayurveda 72,500, Homoeopathy - 98,000, Siddha - 2,75,500, Unani - 2,65,000, Agriculture - 66,500, Veterinary - 34,500, Fisheries - 81,000, Forestry - 69,500.

It is heard that if the second round of NEET national counselling is not handled carefully, it will result in huge financial loss and could also make it impossible to join MBBS anywhere in India. How can one know the exact conditions?

That's right. The National Counselling conducted by the MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) has completely different conditions from the option submission, allotment and admission process followed in Kerala.
