Check out these two job-oriented govt courses for SSLC pass candidates, no upper-age limit

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Technical Education Department is offering two new diploma courses for interested students who have passed the SSLC examination and attained eligibility for higher education.

The courses are Diploma in Secretarial Practice as well as Diploma in Fashion Design and Garment Technology.The prospectus and admission form are available on the website www.sitttrkerala.ac.in

The forms can be downloaded from the website, filled up and submitted to the institution concerned along with the required documents, self-attestation form and fee. Help desks have been set up in each institution.

There is no upper-age limit for the applicants, however the reservation norms prescribed by the Kerala government would be applicable.

Those who wish to apply to more than one institution need to submit separate applications. The phone numbers have been made available in the website.

1. Diploma in Secretarial Practice is a two-year course. Applications can be submitted till September 1.
Application fee is Rs 50. Initially, Rs 890 including tuition fee has to be remitted. Subsequently, Rs 225 each has to paid in two installments.
Classes will be held at 17 government commercial institutions in all districts barring Pathanamthitta and Kasaragod.
A maximum of 60 seats are available in each institution.
The syllabus comprises commerce, accountancy, business communication, DTP, photoshop, short hand and typewriting (Malayalam and English) and Tally.
Kerala Government Technical Examination higher certificate will be awarded for exams on English typewriting/shorthand/word processing etc.

2. Diploma in Fashion Design and Garment Technology (FDGT) is also a two-year course. Applications can be submitted till August 31.
The application fee is Rs 25. A fee of Rs 585 is to be deposited at the time of admission.
The programme is conducted by fashion designing institutes in Kerala. In all 42 institutes in all districts barring Pathanamthitta are offering the course. Each institute has a minimum of 24 seats.
Admissions are open to boys in various fields barring tailoring work. But they can hone their skills in dress designing, decoration and sales.
KGTA certificates would be given to those candidates who pass the general exams of the first and second years.
Opportunities will be available for self-employment besides various jobs in the government and private sector.
A similar course is being conducted by over 100 government-recognized private institutes. Candidates need to apply separately for these institutes.
