Thiruvananthapuram: In a bid to ensure as many candidates as possible get admission to Plus-One courses in Kerala, one more round of allotment of seats will be held.

Three rounds of allotments will be held in the main stage of admissions to the Plus-One courses. In the third stage allotment to marginal seats and additional batches will be carried out.

The batches and the seats will be allowed in each district in the same order, as last year. But, this time, it has been done in advance as the higher secondary authorities are keen to avoid seat shortage and delayed admission as had happened last year. Complaints were rife last year as the seats and batches were allowed in each district in various stages.

The admission process for the 2022-23 academic season got underway on Thursday.

Other changes
A few other changes too have been introduced in the higher secondary admission process this year. The government explained that these changes have been made to give more prominence to academic quality.

The eligibility for admission would be determined by taking the Weighted Grade Point Average of each student. The formula for WGPA would cover academic quality in the first part and bonus point in the second part. If more than one applicant has the same WPGA, then the first part that considers the academic quality would be given preference.

The scores of National Talent Search Examination, National Merit-cum-Means Scholarship Scheme Examination (NMMSSE), Upper Secondary Scholarship Exam and Lower Secondary Scholarship Exams too would be considered for tie breaking.

The bonus points that were given to students who know swimming have been scrapped.

47 VHSE courses
Three new courses have been introduced in the Vocational Higher Secondary. They are Lab Technician – Research and Quality Control; Hand Held Device Technician and Customer-Care Executive – Meet and Greet.

Including the additions the number of courses in VHSE stands at 47.

Sports quota
Students who are eligible for admission to the sports quota seats should register their certificates online at the respective district sports councils. Meanwhile, the applications should be submitted online via the single-window system by including the schools/courses as options. Besides the main allotment, there will be two more allotments and a supplementary allotment too.
