Kattappana: In a rare instance, a mother and her daughter appeared for a PSC exam at the same venue on the same day and cleared the physical efficiency tests together. They are now set to join the Forest Department as Beat Forest Officers.

Both M K Sreeja (40), a native of Cherukunnel, Korangatti, Adimali, and her daughter Megha (21) are now awaiting the final hurdle, personal interviews. The rank list will be published after that, and the mom-daughter duo is set to enter the government service together.

Sreeja served as the Adimali panchayat president for five years from 2015 and is presently an ASHA worker. Megha is working in the Munnar S T hostel on a temporary basis.

Sreeja’s younger daughter Anagha, a Class 10 student, wholly supported her sister and mother to prepare for the PSC exam. Sreeja had earlier sat for a PSC exam, while it was Megha's maiden attempt.

Both appeared for the fitness tests at Calvary Mount school together on Wednesday and cleared the 100-meter race, long jump, and short-put items.

Sreeja’s two siblings are in the government service. Her brother M K Saji is serving as Sub Registrar at MG University, while her sister M K Suja is working as Assistant Labour Officer at Munnar.
