Brahmapuram fire: Monday holiday for schools in seven local bodies

Kochi: With toxic fumes from the Brahmapuram waste dump yard remaining a threat in Ernakulam, a holiday has been declared on Monday for students till class seven in seven local bodies including the city corporation.

District Collector Renu Raj said in a press release that as a precautionary measure, Anganwadis, kindergartens, daycare centres and grades 1 to 7 of government, aided, unaided, CBSE and ICSE schools have been given the one-day holiday.

The holiday will be applicable for educational institutions in the grama panchayats of Vadavucode-Puthencruz, Kizhakkambalam and Kunnathunad, besides the municipalities of Thrikkakara, Trippunithura and Maradu.

However, public examinations have not been postponed, the district collector said.
