Foundry/Forge diplomas at NIAMT; apply before May 31

Candidates with expertise in Foundry / Forge technologies have a high demand in the manufacturing sector. Such expertise could be gained from the National Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technology (NIAMT) at Ranchi in Jharkhand, which is funded by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

The institute has now invited applications for admissions to its Advanced Diploma in Foundry Technology and Advanced Diploma in Forge Technology courses. Both courses have a duration of 18 months and students will receive a monthly scholarship amount of Rs 2,500.

Applications for admissions could be submitted online till May 31. There are 58 seats for Foundry and 57 for Forge course.

Who can apply?

Eligibility to apply is a diploma or BTech with 50% marks in Mechanical / Production / Manufacturing / Metallurgical / Automobile Engineering. Those with a BSc in Maths, Physics or Chemistry also can apply. The cut-off mark is 45% for Scheduled and differently-abled candidates.

Students pursuing the final year of these courses can apply, based on the condition that they should produce their certificates within 60 days after admission.

All applicants should send a print of their online application to the Assistant Registrar (Academic) so that it reaches NIAMT before June 9.

Entrance test

Admissions will be based on an offline entrance test to be held at Ranchi on June 25, from 10 am to 1 pm. If there are sufficient number of applicants, there would be test centres at Hyderabad, Delhi, Pune, Kolkata and Guwahati also.

Results of the test will be published on July 17 and the admission date is July 24. Classes will begin on August 7.
