UGC-NET to be held from June 13 to 22

The University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET), which is the qualifying examination for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and the appointment of assistant professors at universities or colleges, will be held from June 13 to 22. Applications can be submitted till 5pm on May 31.

The application fee is Rs 1,150. The fee is Rs 600 for candidates from the Other Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections, and the fee is Rs 325 for candidates from the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), differently abled and transgender categories.

The fee can be paid till 11.50pm on June 1.

The UGC-NET will be conducted for 83 subjects, including science subjects and humanities including languages, law and music.

Eligibility

The applicants should have completed a Master's degree with at least 55 per cent marks. The minimum required marks is 50 per cent for candidates from the backward, SC/ST, differently abled and transgender categories. Final-year students will also be considered. 

The age of those applying for the JRF should not exceed 30 as on June 1. The upper-age limit for candidates from the backward, SC/ST, transgender and women categories is 35.

There is no upper-age limit for applicants for assistant professorship.

Those who have qualified only for assistant professor would not be considered for JRF. But those who have qualified for JRF can apply for the post of assistant professor.

The PG subject must be chosen for the test. Only if it is not there on the list, a related subject can be selected.

Test pattern

•  First paper: 50 questions, 100 marks; teaching/research aptitude, logical thinking, general knowledge, multi-dimensional thinking etc.

•  Second paper: 100 questions, 200 marks, chosen subject.
