Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala University is planning to invite applications for its proposed four-year degree courses late this month and start classes by September.

Students will be selected based on an all-India entrance test to attract top talents, and the intake will be limited to 20 seats for each course in order to ensure high academic standards.

The four-year degree courses, being introduced on an experimental basis, will be conducted on the Kariavattom campus of the university in Thiruvananthapuram, where only post-graduate and research programmes are offered at present.

The introductory four-year degree courses are BA in Linguistics and Communication, BA in Politics and Public Administration, and BSc in Life Sciences.

"Faculty for the new degree courses will be appointed on a one-year contract," said Vice Chancellor of the university Dr Mohanan Kunnummal.
