Kottayam: The Mahatma Gandhi University reinstated the two officials on suspension in connection with the missing of unsigned certificates from their examination wing.

The University authorities revoked the suspension of Manoj Thomas, section officer and Sebastian P Joseph, the former section officer who has been promoted later as assistant registrar, after an inquiry report by a joint registrar was submitted to the university syndicate.  A syndicate sub-committee will examine the report in detail.

The pro-Congress, MG University Employees Union had launched indefinite strike demanding immediate reinstating of officials; they alleged that innocent officials were made scapegoats by the university. The suspended officials had approached the High Court questioning the delay in reinstating them into service even after the departmental inquiry report was submitted to the authorities. The university has decided to withdraw the suspension even as the High Court slated the hearing of the case for September 5.
