New Delhi: The procedures to apply for the national fellowships offered to differently-abled students for higher studies have been revised.

Until the previous financial year, students had to submit the applications through branches of the Canara Bank. However, under the new guidelines implemented this year, the applications for the scholarship amount have to be handed over to the nodal officer of the respective universities.

It is the task of the nodal officer to verify the documents submitted by the students and upload the details on Scholarship Fellowship Management Portal (SFMP).

Meanwhile, Central authorities have instructed students who are already selected for the fellowship to submit their details to the nodal officer in order to continue receiving the scholarship amount.

The nodal officer for differently-abled students would be the same nodal officer who is in charge of NET and JRF fellowships, said authorities. In universities lacking a NET-JRF nodal officer, matters related to differently-abled students will be handled by the nodal officer for SC, OBC national fellowships.
