Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Government on Tuesday approved the allotment of 81,330 additional Plus One seats across the state for the 2025–2026 academic year. Of these, 64,040 seats were sanctioned as part of the marginal increase, while 17,290 seats were allocated under temporary batches.

The Department of General Education said that a total of 4,74,917 Plus One seats will be available in the upcoming academic year, of which 4,41,887 seats will be in the higher secondary sector, while 17,290 will be for students pursuing Vocational Higher Secondary education.

There will be a 30 per cent increase in marginal seats for all government schools in Thiruvananthapuram, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod, the department said. These districts have also been granted a 20 per cent increase in seats for aided schools.

However, no new marginal seats were approved for Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, and Idukki districts.

The department also announced:

  • An additional 10% increase in seats for aided schools in these districts, upon request.
  • 20% increase in all government and aided higher secondary schools in Kollam, Ernakulam, and Thrissur districts.
  • 20% increase in all government and aided higher secondary schools in the Ambalappuzha and Cherthala taluks of Alappuzha district.

The Single Window process to apply for Plus One admission will commence on May 14 and will close on May 20. Applications can be submitted online using personal devices, high school computer labs, or those in nearby government/aided higher secondary schools.

The trial allotment will be conducted on May 24. Admissions to six model residential higher secondary schools under the SC Development Department will also be conducted through the Single Window system.

Allotment schedule:

    • Trial allotment: May 24

    • First allotment: June 2

    • Second allotment: June 10

    • Third allotment: June 16

    • Supplementary allotment: July 23
