Actor Vijay's upcoming film 'Jana Nayagan,' slated for release on January 9, has run into complications with the Censor Board just two days before its scheduled debut. Industry sources reveal that the film is still awaiting clearance, as the Censor Board has requested cuts to certain violent scenes and adjustments to some dialogues.

Reports circulating on X indicate that an urgent petition has been filed at the Madras High Court by the producers of 'Jana Nayagan,' seeking the issuance of the film’s certification. The film was initially submitted to the Censor Board a few weeks ago, and after being screened on December 19, the Board recommended several changes. While the filmmakers complied with the suggested revisions, there has been a delay in receiving the necessary clearance. On Tuesday, Manorama News reported that the film is now under review by the Revising Committee.

In response to the delays, one of the producers approached the Madras High Court, requesting expedited approval for the certification. The latest update indicates that a hearing is scheduled for 2:15 pm on Wednesday. The delay is becoming a source of concern, as advance ticket sales have already begun. In states like Karnataka, tickets are being sold for as much as Rs 2000, while reservations have yet to open in Tamil Nadu.

Tirupu Subramaniam, a prominent exhibitor in Tamil Nadu, told Onmanorama that they will start bookings immediately once the clearance issue is resolved. “We are hoping for a favorable response soon,” he said. Directed by H. Vinoth, 'Jana Nayagan' marks Vijay's final film before he steps into full-time politics.
