Kannada film actress Pooja Gandhi has reportedly escaped from a luxury hotel in Bengaluru without paying her bill. The hotel management has filed a complaint with a local police station after they realised that Pooja has left the place without settling the bill. A decade ago she was reportedly the third highest paid actress in the Kannada cinema industry.
According to reports, Pooja stayed at a luxury hotel in Bengaluru for a few days. It is said that she fled from the hotel after she realised that the bill came to Rs 4.5 lakh which she barely had.
Latest reports that police have summoned her and she has paid Rs 2 lakh and has requested the hotel management to give her some time to pay the rest of her bill.
Pooja started her career by acting in TV soaps and later made her film debut at the age of 19 in the Bengali movie 'Tomake Salam', released in 2005. She, then moved to the South Indian film industry with the Tamil film 'Kokki' (2006) directed by Prabhu Solomon.
She then moved to Kannada industry with Mungaru Male (2006) and went on to act more than 30 Kannada films. She made her debut in Hindi film with 'I Am' (2011). She also ventured into Malayalam industry with the dubbed film 'Ishtam Enikkishtam'. It was originally shot in Kannada as 'Milana' and starred Puneeth Rajkumar.
Subsequently, she got a big break and was roped in to play a pivotal role in the 2013 movie 'Maad Dad' starring Lal, Nazriya, Padmapriya etc.
Hailing from Punjab, Pooja had joined the Janata Dal (Secular) party and then joined the Karnataka Janata Paksha of former chief minister B. S. Yeddyurappa. She also contested the 2013 Karnataka Legislative Assembly elections from Raichur on a BSR Congress ticket but was unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, Pooja told a daily that the complaint was filed to malign her image and that she had nothing to do with the dues.
