Thiruvananthapuram: Metro Manorama and Kudumbasree is coming together to transform Thiruvananthapuram into a mega shopping destination through the Ananthapuri fest. Along with Manorama, Sowparnika Projects also is a major organizer of the 10-day event. The fest that is set up at the puthirikandam maidan will be inaugurated today at 12.30 pm, by K. Babu, Minister for Ports, Fisheries & Excise. Leading Brands in the market have already booked their space at the exhibition for everything from kitchen accessories, electronics, home appliances, health and beauty equipments, furniture, handicraft, handloom, apparel and jewellery, toys, arts, curios, crockery, automobiles and much more. The shopping fest will be featured with food courts and an entertainment area. Cafe Kudumbasree, an eatery operated by Kudumbasree units, is the main attraction of the festival. Mouth-watering signature dishes from Malabar to Cochin will feature at the food fest. Thalassery dum biryani, ghee pathiri, kozhi pollichathu, kappa biriyani, mulayari payasam will be made available at the Kudumbasree pavilion. An exclusive seafood stall ‘Fish Made’ will be opened by the Coastal Development Corporation. The fare here will include everything from fish samosas, fish momos, fish roll, cutlet, fish lollipop. The foods will be prepared using healthy and nutritious methods and only fully grown fishes will be used. For the chicken lovers, KEPCO will have a stall featuring traditional and nutritious chicken dishes and chicken based snacks like chicken cutlets, chicken lollipop, chicken sausages, marinated chicken and more. There will also be a ready to eat section catering to the customer’s palates. Pamphlets and flyers that talk about the virtues of white meat will be distributed at these stalls. Milma is also putting up a stall here for milk sweets and other delicacies. **Special children’s evenings by the Magic Planet** For that unique magical touch to the Ananthapuri fest, magician Muthukkad’s Magic Academy will present fun and informative evenings dedicated to the craft of magic. The main act among them is the famous ‘Indian mango mystery’. In this act, a buried mango seed gives rise to a sapling within minutes and turns into a mature Mango tree with ripe mangoes. Another aim of the show will be to get rid of the myths, fears and superstitions associated with magic from the minds of children and to spread awareness about the science of magic. The Magic Shows at the festival will be at 6 pm everyday from November 21st to 30th. On Saturdays and Sundays, there will be shows at 4 pm too.
