The kitchen in this eatery ‘wakes’ up at 3 am. The hotel closes only when the curry and the porotta get over. The hotel was originally opened for tourists who enjoy a houseboat ride on the lake. However, now, the hotel has become a symbol of the rich culinary culture of the district. 

Even though idiyappam, puttu and banana fritters too are available, most people enjoy the classic combination of porotta and beef. Interestingly, a delicious and filling meal can be enjoyed at Raja’s eatery for an incredibly lower price. People start thronging his watery from 6 am onwards.

Raja has a few assistants too to help him in the kitchen. The hotel is close to Kainat jetty in Alappuzha.
