Most people depend on fad diets, low calorie diets, steroids and supplements to quickly shed weight. But, health experts warn that these tendencies would do more harm than good in the longer run. Change in lifestyle, proper sleep patterns, healthy and wholesome diet and exercise are required to reduce weight in a healthy manner. If you are someone who wishes to shed weight in a healthy way, then avoid the following blunders:

No fat diet

Cutting fat completely from the diet would probably be the first thing that one does in their weight loss journey. However, this could be dangerous as fat, protein and minerals are required to form the micro nutrients that are required for the proper functioning of the body. Fat is essential for the absorption of vitamins A, K and D. If you completely avoid fat, then you will not only lack energy but micro nutrients and minerals too.

Gluten free diet

This diet would be beneficial if you have been diagnosed with Celiac disease. It hasn’t been proven that body weight could be easily reduced by avoiding food that contains gluten. Lots of company exploit the lack of knowledge of people to promote gluten free snacks, cakes and chocolate bars. It is true that these snacks may not contain gluten; however, they surely contain sugar and salt in huge quantities. Such food items that have high glycaemic index would shoot the blood sugar levels too. Besides, they contain artificial sweeteners, preservatives and colourants.

Starving

Avoiding food to reduce body weight is a dangerous tendency that could severely affect the health. It could cause mental stress and eating disorder. It has been proven that not eating for a long time would make one averse towards food. Besides, it may cause mental disorders too. It can completely ruin the digestive and metabolic activities of the body. The body would struggle absorbing food and could topple the regular bodily functions too.

Lack of balanced diet

A balanced diet contains all the elements that are required in the right amount. The micro nutrients are essential for ensuring physical and mental well being and boosts immunity too. Most people who are trying to shed weight avoid carbohydrates from the diet. However, it may lead to lack of energy, headache and exhaustion.
