Special chocolate palpayasam

Chocolate palpayasam is extremely tasty and has the goodness of milk, chocolate and rice as well. Check out the pretty simple recipe of chocolate palpayasam.

Ingredients
½ cup unakkalari (rice with bran)
1 litre
½ cup + 1 ½ tbsp sugar
1 cup water
¼ tsp cardamom powder
1 tsp ghee
1 ½ tbsp chocolate (or as required)

Special chocolate palpayasam

Preparation
Wash the bran rice well and soak for half an hour
Pressure cook the soaked rice with some water until 1 whistle
Open the cooker only after the pressure has been released completely
Into the cooked rice, add the ghee and sugar
Stir and cook on low flame
This helps the rice absorb the sweetness from the sugar. Besides, the rice wouldn't be overcooked
Pour the boiled milk after the rice has absorbed the sugar nicely
Do not forget to remove the layer of fat from the milk before pouring in
Stir continuously until the payasam begins to thicken up
Add the cardamom powder and 1-2 drops vanilla essence if required
Mix and stir well to thicken the payasam nicely
Turn off the flame when the payasam has the right consistency
Add the chocolate when the payasam cools down a bit
You could also add chocolate spread/syrup or coco powder
Add some more sugar if you are using coco powder
If the payasam is too thick, loosen it by adding some milk or boiled and cooled water
Enjoy the chocolate palpayasam.
