A traditional snack from Kerala, where portia trees leaves are layered with a filling of rice or wheat and jaggery and steamed to make a perfectly cooked sweet nosh.

Ingredients
½ kg, wheat flour
tsp sugar
100ml milk
Salt, as
required
Water, as required
15 leaves of Poovarasu
(Portia tree leaves)
100gm coconut, grated
100gm jaggery, grated
200gm banana, grated
50gm raisins
½
tsp cardamom powder

Preparation
Sieve the wheat flour and add sugar, milk and salt along with some water to make soft dough
It should neither be as smooth as dosa batter, nor as hard as the dough for chappati

Clean and wash the leaves of Poovarasu (Portia tree leaves)
Mix the grated coconut, jaggery, banana, raisins and cardamom powder, and keep aside
Take
a part of the prepared dough and flatten it out on the leaf to make a medium thin sheet
Place the coconut mix over the dough and fold the leaf length-wise. Repeat this procedure with the rest of the dough and filling
Place all the leaves with the dough and filling in a traditional steamer and cook till they're done
