Mushroom masala pizza pockets for a perfect evening snack


Vegetable masala is a common ingredient in most of the dishes. Here is a recipe devised by Sherien Mohammad, the winner of Double Horse Onmanorama HomeChef Chef of the Month title.

Mushroom masala pizza pockets is the best snack one can serve for their kids. Sherien, a working woman, also finds time to experiment her cooking skills and her son loves it.

These pizza pockets are totally delicious and will be a hit with everyone. If you are not a mushroom fan, replace it with your favourite vegetables for the perfect snack.

For pizza pockets
2 cups flour
1 cup lukewarm water
1 tsp yeast
1 ½ tsp sugar
Salt as needed
Oil as needed
For mushroom masala
2tsp Double Horse vegetable masala
1 small onion
3 garlic cloves
Oil as needed
200 gm mushroom
1 tomato
1 tsp Crushed pepper
1 green chilli
Coriander leaves
Salt as needed
Mozarella cheese
1 egg

In a bowl mix together yeast, water and sugar. Keep it aside for 15 minutes
Turn flour out on floured surface and make a hole in the middle
Sprinkle some salt and add the yeast mixture to the hole
Add 2 tsp oil and knead it thoroughly for 8-10 minutes
Brush the dough with oil
Cover the dough and let rest for 10 minutes
Heat oil in a pan
Add garlic and onion and sauté well
Add mushrooms, tomato and vegetable masala to it. Cook for 5 minutes
Add crushed pepper, chopped green chilli, salt and coriander leaves. Keep it aside
Once the dough doubles in bulk, divide it into five balls
Roll each balls of dough into rounds
Add mushroom masala and grated cheese
Fold the dough in half and seal the edge with fork tines
Brush it with beaten egg
Bake the pizza pockets in an oven at 250°C for 20 minutes
Slice it into half and serve hot.
