Masks have now become an indispensable part of our daily lives, thanks to the unending COVID-19 pandemic. Chefs and home cooks, stuck in lockdowns, have been trying to unleash their creative side by making food items in the shape of masks or even the coronavirus.
A Madurai eatery in Tamil Nadu recently went viral for serving hot mask-shaped porottas to their customers. Here is an inspired recipe for you to try at home.
2 cups all-purpose flour
Salt and sugar
Mix the all-purpose flour with salt, sugar, and egg
Add 2 tbsp oil and water as required
Mix well into soft dough
Keep it aside for at least half an hour
Make small balls and roll them
Rub some oil and create the layers of a mask using a skewer
Roll the pin lightly over this mask porotta
Make thin rolls using your hands for the strings
Cook on hot tawa.
