Kappa and sardine curry by Anila Sreekumar

Boiled tapioca with spicy sardines curry is a match made in culinary heaven. Actress Anila Sreekumar, in a latest Youtube video, shares the recipes of this iconic combination. Here are the recipes.

Boiled tapioca
1 tsp turmeric powder
Salt as required
½ coconut (grated)
5 green chilies
4 garlic cloves
5 shallots
¼ tsp cumin seeds
Mustard seeds
Curry leaves as required
Coconut oil
Dried chilies

Cut the tapioca into small pieces and wash them well
Boil the tapioca pieces in enough water
When the tapioca is nicely cooked, strain them
Add some more water and turmeric powder into the tapioca
Boil again
Crush the grated coconut with shallots, green chilies, garlic, cumin seeds and turmeric powder
Strain the cooked tapioca
Add the coconut mix into the tapioca
Mix well
Add more water if required
Heat coconut oil and splutter mustard seeds
Roast curry leaves and dried chilies
Add this tempering into the boiled tapioca
Give everything a good mix.

Sardines curry
Curry leaves
1 small piece ginger
6 garlic cloves
10 shallots
1 tomato
5 green chilies
½ tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp chili powder
Coconut oil
Mustard seeds
Water as required

Grind ginger, garlic, shallots, tomato and green chilies into a coarse paste
Soak the tamarind in some water
Heat coconut oil in an earthen chatty
Splutter the mustard seeds
Add the curry leaves
Now add the coarse masala paste
Sauté for some time
Add turmeric powder, chili powder, salt and tamarind water
Allow the gravy to boil
Now add the cleaned sardines
Cook on low flame
Enjoy the delicious spiced tapioca with sardines curry.
