Broken wheat kinnathappam

This delicious and healthy snack is easy to prepare using a few ingredients. Instead of sugar, jaggery is used in this dish. Meanwhile, cow’s milk has been used instead of coconut milk. Here is the recipe.

Ingredients
½ cup broken wheat
250 gms jaggery
¼ cup water
1 ¼ cup cow’s milk
1 tsp cardamom powder
¼ tsp salt
Coconut oil

Preparation
Prepare jaggery syrup and strain it
Meanwhile, soak the broken wheat for at least an hour
Grind the soaked broken wheat, jaggery syrup, milk, cardamom and salt in a mixer jar
Pass this mixture through a strainer
The left over mixture in the strainer could be blended again in the mixer jar by adding some more milk
The batter shouldn’t be too thick
Keep the batter aside for 20 minutes
Grease the vessel with coconut oil
Pour 2 – 3 ladles of batter
Steam for 10 – 15 minutes
Cut the kinnathappam into small pieces after it has cooled down.
