Are you confused what to do with leftover rice? Make these delicious snacks

Every household would have some leftover rice which is either reheated and consumed on the next day or are thrown away. However, not many know that tasty snacks and dishes could be made using leftover rice.

Experts say that leftover rice is high on micro-nutrients, potassium and calcium. Check out the recipes of two dishes that could be made with leftover rice.

Rice idli
Ingredients
1 ½ cups leftover rice
1 cup water
1 cup semolina (roasted)
1 cup yoghurt
½ tsp salt

Preparation
Blend the leftover rice by adding water in a mixer jar
Transfer the batter into a bowl
Into it add the roasted semolina, yoghurt and salt
Mix well


Keep the batter aside for at least twenty minutes
Meanwhile, grease the idli vessel with some ghee
Pour the batter into the idli vessel
Cook the idlis for up to 13 minutes on medium flame
Enjoy soft and tasty idlis with shallots chutney or coconut chutney.

Rice patties
Ingredients
Shallots
Egg
Chickpea flour
Leftover rice

Preparation
Mix shallots, egg, chickpea and salt
Into it add the leftover rice
Mix well until it isn’t too thick or too loose
Make small balls and press them between your palms into patties
Fry the patties in hot oil until they are brown on both sides
This is a crunchy snack that you could enjoy with hot tea during the monsoon.
