Egg dosa: This thattukada favourite can be made at home too

The dosa tastes amazing with coconut chutneys. File Photo

'Mutta dosa' aka egg dosa paired with the traditional white and red coconut chutneys, a black coffee and an old Malayalam song to listen to.

This 'lethal' combination can be truly nostalgic and relaxing for most Malayalis who love the 'thattukada' or 'wayside eatery' food. The crispy yet soft dosas with a bulls-eye omlette at the centre can be made at home too, easily. Check out the recipe

1 tsp finely chopped onion
2 cups dosa batter
Curry leaves
1 egg
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper powder
¼ tsp chilli powder

Grease pan with ghee and pour the dosa batter to make idli
The dosa should be in a round shape, like a thin crepe
Sprinkle ghee above the dosa
Add cropped onion, curry leaves
Without breaking the yolk, open the egg on top of the dosa
Add chilli, pepper powders and salt
Cook for 3 minutes
Enjoy for breakfast, lunch and dinner
