Vishnu Vinod, Kerala engineering entrance topper, is a Messi fan

Vishnu Vinod, who won the first rank in the Kerala Engineering Entrance Exam with a score of 584.9173, is a great fan of Lionel Messi, the football great who goes by the nickname Messiah. No wonder Vishnu is also called Messiah by his friends as he has been consistently securing the first rank from class I.

However, Vishnu’s record in winning the first rank excels Messi’s skills in scoring goals. Earlier, Vishnu was placed first in Kerala in the Joint Entrance Exam (Main).

Vishnu is the son of Vinod Kumar and Chandni who belong to Sankaramangalam at Anakkara in Idukki. Vishnu studied at K E School, Mannanam in Kottayam. His younger brother Viswanath also is a student there. The family shifted to Gandhi Nagar two years ago for Vishnu’s studies.

Reading and films are Vishnu’s interests. He has won prizes for short story writing too. Now the youngster is getting ready to continue his studies at IIT Madras.

His preparations

Vishnu scheduled his studies in two ways. During the days when he had regular classes, Vishnu studied for 4-5 hours. On holidays, he spent 10 hours on his lessons.

Mock tests

When the academic session started, Vishnu attempted one mock test a week. But when the exams approached it became a daily affair. The mock tests were tough, which made the real exams easy, says the topper.

Tough portion

Every student may find a particular portion somewhat difficult. For Vishnu it was the equations in Organic Chemistry. However, he learnt it all by heart through revisions.

Vishnu’s aim

The youngster is planning to join the Computer Science course in an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). Big things are all set to take place in the field of computers, says Vishnu.

New technologies

Vishnu ensures that he has an idea about all technical sectors. However, he would be concentrating on emerging technologies after building a base during the degree studies.

Use of social media

Even though Vishnu is yet to venture into Facebook or WhatsApp, he is not opposed to social media. But having crossed a milestone in his life, the topper says he may become active in such activities soon.

Hobbies

Reading English novels is the favourite pastime of Vishnu.

Role of parents

Many parents compel their children to study. But Vishnu was lucky in this regard. “My parents never forced me to study. But mother used to come and sit near me when I was learning at home. It was support not terror that I received from my parents,” says the topper.
