Local body polls: Final voters’ list adds over 30 lakh, deletes 13 lakh names

Thiruvananthapuram: Malappuram dominate the electoral rolls, recording the highest number of voter additions, deletions, and overall electorate in the final voters’ list released by the State Election Commission (SEC). The district added 4,50,667 new voters and saw 1,71,811 deletions, taking its total to 35,50,158 voters—the highest in the state. It also leads in male (17,09,923), female (18,40,188) and transgender (47) voters.
At the other end, Wayanad registered the lowest changes, with 74,863 additions and 38,336 deletions, leaving it with 6,39,444 voters, the smallest electorate among districts.
Across Kerala’s 1,200 local bodies, the final roll shows 30,18,926 new voters added and 13,84,724 names deleted.
The initial draft list was published on July 23. Applications for corrections and entries were accepted until August 12, and the revised final list came out on September 2.
With these updates, the state’s total electorate now stands at 2,83,12,458 , comprising 1,33,52,947 men, 1,49,59,235 women, and 276 transgender persons.
Among the additions, 13,69,490 were men, 16,49,381 women, and 55 transgender voters. Deletions included 6,48,729 men, 7,35,983 women, and 12 transgender voters.
In terms of local bodies, Olavanna Grama Panchayat has the largest voter base and Idamalakkudi the smallest. Among municipalities, Alappuzha leads, while Kuthattukulam has the fewest voters. In corporations, Thiruvananthapuram has the highest electorate and Kannur the lowest.
The final list covers 17,337 wards in 941 grama panchayats, 3,240 wards in 87 municipalities, and 421 wards in six corporations. It also includes 2,087 expatriate voters, with Kozhikode recording the highest (902) and Idukki (7) the lowest.
