Jasprit Bumrah bagged a fifer (5/27) as India bundled out South Africa for 159 on Day 1 of the first Test at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday.

Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton gave the visitors a decent start, adding 57 for the first wicket after Temba Bavuma won the toss.

But the South African batters failed to make big scores as Indian bowlers maintained their discipline. Markram's 31 was the highest individual score, while only Wiaan Mulder, Tony de Zorzi and Rickelton managed to score in excess of 20 runs.

Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets apiece, while Axar Patel claimed one.

In the morning session, two brilliant deliveries from Bumrah led to the dismissals of South African openers. The pacer got the wickets of Simon Harmer and Keshav Maharaj in the 55th over of the innings to claim his fifer.
